Our History

Building on the knowledge of seaweed science great Nestor Prof. Dr. Klaus Lüning and Rasmus Bjerregaard started seaweed cultivation on his mussel farm in Denmark in 2007 starting the first commercial seaweed cultivation in Scandinavia.

In 2016 Dr. Stefan Sebök took over Prof. Dr. Klaus Lünings land-based farm in Germany and during 2019 Stefan and Rasmus finally joined forces to create Aurelis with the mission to provide food solutions for a healthy plant-based diet using seaweed as a sustainable ingredient.

In 2020 Aurelis launched its own food brand with sales in the biggest supermarket in Denmark

In 2021 Aurelis started seaweed cultivation in Tanzania

In 2022 Aurelis started the new cultivation project in North-Denmark
